As a reservist in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in sunny San Diego, CA, Vanessa provided administrative and mission support to fellow U.S.C.G. reservists for thirteen years. Seven of those years, she was cross assigned to a Navy reserve supporting both services.
As a civilian Vanessa’s passion for learning and development has led her to positions conducting training on subjects ranging from leadership development to employee training to “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. She extended her time in the military community with another 6 years as a civilian employee for the U.S.M.C. where she continued providing training to command teams, units, and spouses on topics from leadership development, strategic planning, communication, and resiliency. Her time there also allowed the opportunity to support the installation volunteer program.
In her free time, Vanessa volunteers with a dog rescue, is a rookie plant keeper, enjoys the guilty pleasure of British mystery shows, and tries to make the most of the San Diego outdoors with her spouse and two dogs.
